New Home for DSS and others

Welcome to the new home for the Memjet technology printers in South and Southern Africa. The company is still the same, just getting a new branding and identity in keeping with the life and times of the company and what it brings to market.

Previously known as DSS or Documents Security Solutions or even “scratchprint”, this website will over time replace the previously known ones! And nothing of what used to be in the product mix have been discarded, but rather complimentary products and services are being added to the mix.

Although DSS was meaningful and appropriate, today’s company is different. And we cannot just simply create a new “trading as” brand as legislation have changed as well. Hence the need for the new name and identity.

Please be patient with us while we are setting up and creating the new web presence!

In the interim please go ahead and look at the prior posts showing where we had the printers in action at shows or pictorial view of selected client installation. (coming slowly but surely)

WineX, Sandton, Oct 2011

What a change from the boring standard sign boards!

Yes we did it. We exhibited the Speedstar 3000 label printer par excellence at WineX held from 26-28 October 2011 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

What an experience, in a number of different ways.

First one, the space allowed for an exhibit. A tiny table in an island arrangement shared with with other exhibitors each with their own little table. Interesting to position a Speedstar in such an environment. But we did it.
Second one, the time allowed for buildup. On the day, and basically only a 2-hour window. But we did it.
Third one, the show times. From 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Different, very different. Also very tiring after a day in the office. Sore feet and all. But we did it.
Fourth one, the number of people coming through the door. Lots and lots. Hell it got busy on the first night, but made contact with a number of people, none in the wine industry. We survived the first night. Getting out of the parking garage was a different story, we eventually parked the car and went to have something to eat and drink. Finally got home after 11pm. But we did it.
Fifth one. We were warned about the last (Friday) night and the state the public gets into. We did not believe the old timers at this show. We now know better, believe them. And be ready to be disgusted. Very disgusted. The last night was a free-for-all-get-drunk-as-a-skunk-as-fast-as-possible! Ugly, very UGLY! And we apologise to those drunk members of the public that we treated with disgust, you deserved it! But we nearly didn’t do it. We did debate to close the stand after an hourof the show, but was to scared to leave our printer unattended. So we didn’t.

Such a nicely decorated table, amazing!

Oh, nearly forgot. The cherry on top, getting out of the convention centre after the show closed and we had packed up. What a mission!

We will not be back next year, for definite!

Sorry Aurora Rotary!

Knock and Drop, Gaborone, Oct 2011

Classic! Epic! Unbelievable!

And you want to install the printer where? This is one for the record books!

And this is the installation venue for our first Speedstar installation outside of South Africa

And inside the container it looks like this.

Installed in a container, no air-conditioning, hot as hell! On the day of the training the temperature turned at 45deg C, and that was before midday.

Things have improved since then, the very next day an air-conditioner was installed.

Certainly different.

And this is a look at the premises from across the road.
